Module 3: Evolving Practices in Boardroom Leadership
Module 3 of our Board Readiness and Networking Program took place last Saturday.
The session featured keynote speaker Hazel Claxton, who shared insights into her board journey and strategic approach to governance. Drawing on her extensive experience as a board director and senior executive, Hazel provided Cohort 7 participants with valuable perspectives and practical guidance on effective board leadership.
The module explored a range of important governance topics, including ethical leadership, enhancing board effectiveness, tokenism in the boardroom, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and CEO succession and executive compensation.
Participants also engaged in a session on crisis management in the boardroom, where they gained practical strategies for navigating difficult boardroom conversations during times of crisis. The discussion was followed by breakout sessions focused on case study analysis and collaborative learning.
The module concluded with a BDN Spotlight featuring Soula C. who shared reflections on her experience since graduating from the program and offered Cohort 7 participants insight into the impact of the program beyond completion.
